Featured Cuban Cultural Experiences

Old Havana – Havana, CU A complex series of fortifications once protected the city center of Old Havana. Today, those fortifications are some of the oldest and most impressive in the world. Within the fortifications, the Cuban Plaza’s are a treasure, each with a unique architectural character.

The Historic Centre of Cienfuegos – Cienfuegos Founded in 1819, Cienfuegos was initially settled by immigrants of French origin. The Historic Centre of Ceinfuegos was named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, due to the geometric regularity of the city’s layout. Inspired by Spanish Enlightenment, masterful iron metalwork is present in the railings and fences of the various buildings. This historic area is an excellent exhibit of top notch urban planning.

Museum of Colonial Architecture –  Trinidad Plaza Mayor in Trinidad, Cuba is the historic center of the town. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988, the building surrounding the central square date from the 18th and 19 centuries. These building include the Church of Holy Trinity, the House of Conspirators, Burnet Palace, and the museum of Guamuhaya Archaeology.

The City of Parks Tour –  Holguin Holguin is one of the prettiest cities you’ll find in all of Cuba. The best view of the city is located on top of the Hill of Cross. Here, you’ll be able to see all of Holguin’s plazas, as well as the coastline that Christopher Columbus once called “the most beautiful land human eyes have ever seen”.

The beauty of the Great Lakes is only matched by the great experiences you’ll have there.  Take a look into history at Fort Henry or on Mackinac Island, learn Objiwe traditions during a Pow Wow, discover the cultural melting pot that is Toronto, and come face to face with mighty Niagara Falls.

Kingston FixedKingston, ON –  Fort Henry This majestic fort is set high above the Kingston harbor on Lake Ontario, the gateway to the St. Lawrence River and the Rideau Canal. As you pass the Sentry guarding the citadel entrance, you will experience life set in the year of Canada’s Confederation, 1867. Throughout the day there are various activities including historical reenactments of drills and battle tactics, the Garrison Parade, the Victorian School Room, and the Muster Parade, where young visitors are dressed in period uniforms and taught to march by a qualified member of the Guard.

Niagara Falls

Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON – Niagara Falls The tremendous Niagara Falls sends millions of gallons of water rocketing over the falls every minute.  Guests will take a deluxe motor coach through the fertile agricultural vineyards with magnificent new-world chateaux.  We’ll then travel along a Niagara Parkway on the ride overlooking the river.  Dine in style in the panoramic Queen’s Landing Hotel with locally grown, farm-fresh Niagara lunch choices, and then spend the afternoon exploring the quaint shops and gardens of the town itself, or taking a guided tour of the Hillebrand winery with an exclusive wine-tasting.

Toronto AGO

Toronto, ON – Toronto City Tour  The multi-cultural city of the Toronto faces the sparkling waters of Lake Ontario and is known for being Canada’s largest city.  Pearl Seas Cruises will take you to all of the best-known places in Toronto, including Kensington Market- the legendary outdoor marketplace designated as a National Historic Site of Canada.  We’ll also visit Chinatown, the Theater District known for it’s plethora of arts buildings, and the brightly-lit Financial District.  In the afternoon, enjoy a tour of the Art Gallery of Ontario with over 80,000 works in its collection spanning from 100 A.D. to the present.

Windsor, ON – Canadian Club Heritage Center or Henry Ford Museum Guests to Windsor, ON will have thier choice of what they’d like to visit for the day- The Canadian Club Heritage Center or the Henry Ford Museum.  The Center tells the story of Hiram Walker and how he opened a whiskey distillery that modernized the sale of liquor.  Once Hiram’s 16th Century Italian style mansion, the Center is filled with history, from gorgeous dining rooms to the famous basement’s Speak Easy room where gangster Al Capone held meetings during the 1930’s prohibition.

At the Henry Ford Musuem, explore the processes and personal collection of one of America’s greatest entrepreneurs- Henry Ford.  Noted for creating the first automobile accessible to the middle class due to his stream-lined factory processes, Mr. Ford was instrumental in kick-starting the American Industrial Revolution.  The museum is a National Historic Landmark that contains several famous pieces of machinery, homes, and exhibits, including John F. Kennedy’s presidential limousine, Abraham Lincoln’s chair from Ford’s Theatre, Thomas Edison’s laboratory, the Wright Brothers’ bicycle shop, and the Rosa Parks bus.  You’ll take a ride through history on a unique experience aboard a Model T Ford.

Midland, ON – Sainte-Marie-Among-the-Hurons and the SS Keewatin Follow in the footsteps of the first Europeans in Ontario with a visit to the 17th Century French Jesuit Mission headquarters.  Here, the story of the first interaction between the native people and the Europeans is recreated with interactive educational exhibits.  In the afternoon, explore the SS Keewatin, a steamship built in 1907 in Scotland that used to sail along the entire length of the Great Lakes.  Retired in 1966, you’ll see authentic staterooms, bars, ballrooms, and more as you learn what sailing a steamship through the Great Lakes was truly like.

Little Current, ON / Manitoulin Island – Pow Wow Excursion Begin the day with a Pow Wow with the native Ojibwe tribe where you’ll participate in an authentic traditional Aborigional dance and drum presentation. Continue on to the Immaculate Conception Church and the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation where you will be able to explore the Ojibwe heritage museum and art gallery.

Henry Ford Model T

Fort Mackinac, MI – Carriage Tour Embark on a guided horse-drawn carriage tour of Mackinac Island and explore this small yet exciting island.  Classic Victorian architecture from the 1800s lines the cobblestone streets as you discover Fort Mackinac’s historic museum, the luxurious Grand Hotel, and the quaint beauty of this unique town.

Holland, MI – The Holland in America Experience The genuine Dutch culture in Holland is alive and well, as portrayed by our local host who will pick you up in full Dutch attire and take you to all of the authentic sites in the town.  Tour Windmill Island Gardens and see DeZwann, the only authentic Dutch windmill operating in the United States. Step back in time over 100 years and see Nelis’ dutch Village, recreated with colorful Dutch architecture and cultural demonstrations.  Continue on to DeKlomp Wooden Shoe Factory, the Delft Chocolate factory, and then have the opportunity to stroll through Holland’s Tulip Farm, ablaze with perennial gardens.
